Business Overview

Trawling Operations

North Pacific & South Pacific Ocean

Stationed out on the high-seas for 6-9 months at a time, the Group's North Pacific trawling (fishing) operations are conducted all year round. To help maximise the time out at sea and to enhance our fishing performance, we employ state-of-the-art technology on board our vessels. Our supertrawlers are equipped with advanced sonar fish finding technology to identify the size, location, and density of a school of fish. Once identified, a midwater trawl (net) is towed behind the vessel to harvest the fish. The catch sensors attached on the net to monitor catch levels will indicate the optimal time to bring in the net. Catches are then converted into primary processed products (as shown in the chart below).

Processed products are then collected and delivered to customers by transshipment vessels. In addition to providing logistical services, these transportation vessels will at the same time restock our fuel and onboard necessities such as food, water, and the changing of crew when necessary.

In line with our core development strategy and next stage of growth, the Group has deployed supertrawlers to the South Pacific Ocean towards the end of 2008, with several more vessels to follow in 2009. This under-utilised and abundant fishing ground presents an opportunity for the Group to further boost its resources to meet the growing global demands for fish.
